Where to start when planning your wedding
Okay, so the one you love just popped the question over the holidays and you said yes. First of all, congratulations! Secondly, take a deep breath and keep that smile on your face because now you two get to embark on the journey of planning your wedding and I
promise, it doesn’t have to be a nightmare. Here are a few hints on where to get started.
The best place to start is with your guest list. Get a rough estimate together. It doesn’t have to be exact and remember that not everyone you invite will necessarily come (especially for larger weddings). Sometimes, your list may vary for ceremony and reception, so keep that in mind too. Maybe you want to start with a smaller ceremony that gives way to an all out party with two hundred of your friends. There aren’t rules with this, so go with what works for you. But having this knowledge hashed out early on makes the rest a lot easier to figure out.
Finding the Right Venue
Now take the number off that potential guest list and file it away in your brain for the next step – finding your venue. That wide range of guests is why Winter Park Wedding Company has four different venues that can accommodate anywhere from 25 people to 400 people depending on the location. Different weddings have different needs! So find the venue that works for you. After perusing the internet and amassing your list of venue possibilities, start calling or emailing and setting up an appointment to go take a look at them.
How to View & Reserve One of Our Wedding Venues
If you’re interested in touring one of our historic Winter Park venues, you can call, email, or simply fill out our Request A Quote form and we’ll contact you promptly.
We understand budgets are important and have done our best to provide various options for budgets of all kinds. We also offer virtual FaceTime or Skype tours for those out of town. So you don’t need to be local to tour a venue, live.
If you have a date you want already, you can even check it’s availability online. Reserving your date and time is easy. Once an opening is confirmed, simply leave a deposit and we’ll hold your date and time. We can also help you find a nearby location for your reception and assist with arranging any transportation if necessary from any of our venues.
Don’t Fret About Details Yet
Some people plan for a year, but most plan their entire wedding in less than two months. So if your date is coming up and you don’t know colors or how you want your procession or what music you want or how you’re coming by a cake or what dress you want, it’s okay. And as long as you have an overarching idea of who you are as a couple and that you love each other and you have a place to get married, you’re on the right track. We’ve helped coordinate entire weddings in a week before!
Because we work with some great local vendors, couples often keep in touch with us over the course of the year to help coordinate vendors and details as they plan. As the ceremony gets closer (about a month out), we like to sit down with the couple to make sure that everything is in place, all music is decided, and any last minute bits can be properly ordered.
You love each other, right? Don’t forget that
It sounds cheesy, but it’s true. Don’t let your wedding become a source of anxiety. Figure out what you want, plan where you can, and enlist help of a professional planner or coordinator when you start to feel overwhelmed. Anything you see on our website {and honestly, a few things that aren’t} are things we can help you with. Don’t stress and keep that smile because in the end, after all the venues, all the Pinterest, all the invitation papers, all the nitpicking?! You’ll be married to the one you love. And it makes our day to help you enjoy yours.
