Having decided a long time ago to make our wedding about the two of us, we packed our bags, with the ‘oh so’ important dress carefully packed in our hand luggage and Pete and I set off for Florida, where we planned to get married at Winter Park Wedding Chapel.
Having talked to our wedding coordinator Suzanne, I knew she had everything in hand and we could just relax and enjoy the run up and our big day. Driving to the Chapel for our final consultation and to meet Suzanne face to face for the first time, we both felt excited and a bit anxious – would it be everything we hoped for? We drove round the corner and there it was – Winter Park Wedding Chapel – even more lovely than the photographs, the perfect place for our wedding.
Our big day finally arrived and Suzanne was waiting on the steps of the Chapel with Rev Jimmy. We got out of the car, me in my wedding dress and Pete in his …………shorts and t-shirt??!!! It was a very hot day so Pete got changed into his suit at the Chapel – and why not!? The look on Suzanne and Rev Jimmy’s face when Pete got out of the car in his shorts was priceless!!
Suzanne gave me my beautiful bouquet and Pete and I were ready to walk into the Chapel together. It was so romantic…beautiful flowers at the front, long white drapes, and curtain ties that matched my dress – just beautiful!
We walked down the white carpet to meet Rev Jimmy. The ceremony was personal, emotional, sincere and funny in all the right places. Rev Jimmy declared us Husband and Wife and we celebrated with a piece of cake and a glass of fizz before going to the beautiful rose garden for our official photographs.
The sun was shining as Steve and Suzanne took Pete and I round the park and gardens for our photographs. Our photographs tell the story of our wedding perfectly from our arrival right through to Pete trying to throw me in the fountain!
Pete, a very keen photography hobbyist at the time, took a special interest in the photographs and Steve’s camera. Inspired by Winter Park Photography, Pete eventually took the plunge and set up Pete Campbell photography (www.petecampbellphotography.co.uk). Four years later, I have joined him and we have the privilege of photographing other couples on their wedding day. We’ve even photographed a wedding reception for a couple from the UK who married at Winter Park Wedding Chapel and had a big reception for friends and family when they got home. As well as photographing beautiful weddings across Yorkshire, we have our own family portrait studio and photograph for companies such as Pamper Me UK, Second Byte, Telefonica and Capita. We want to share our love of photography with others and now help budding photographers by supporting photography training courses and workshops with Going Digital UK.
Having had a wedding that was so much more than we had hoped, and being inspired to follow our dreams, getting married at Winter Park Wedding Chapel changed our lives in more ways than one.
